You do not come here to learn how I see things. You come to get back in contact with how you do.
Private practice. Bengaluru, and online. A small number of people at a time, almost all of them through someone they already trust.
I have known since I was young that the practice would be called this. It is a word that does not stay with the person saying it. It hands something back to whoever is hearing it.
This page tells you very little about me. That is deliberate, and I am aware it is a strange thing to put on a website.
Most people arrive carrying a version of themselves they have held for years, usually assembled out of what was convenient for somebody else. The work is not me handing you a better version of it. It is you getting close enough to your own to see what is actually there.
I work slowly. I take few people. I stay in supervision, which I mention only because I think you should ask any therapist whether they do.
Most of what makes a situation hard will not move. The family you have, the history, the year you are in. Your angle on it can — and that is almost always where a shift begins.
Not a session, and there is no charge. I ask a few plain questions, and tell you how I work so you can decide whether you want to carry on. I am deciding the same thing, and I will say so if I am not the right person.
Fifty minutes, weekly, in Bengaluru or online. I keep the diary myself, on paper, which is slower and suits me.
I am not here to hand you my reading of your life. You already have one, and it is more accurate than mine. Much of the work is clearing enough room for you to hear it.
It rarely is. People arrive with several things they believe are separate problems. Finding out that they are not is a good deal of the work, and it is the part I am best at.
Therapy is not a crutch and should not become one. It is closer to water — necessary while you need it, not something to build a life around. If we work well, you will stop coming.
If you are trying to get somewhere. A next stage in a marriage, a career, the way you talk to people. My work is transformative in intent, and it suits people who want a shift and are willing to be part of making it.
If what you want is somewhere to stay as you are. People who need their suffering left undisturbed tend to find me confrontational. That is a real difference in approach rather than a judgement, and there are colleagues I would rather send you to.
If you would like to start, leave me a line and we will set up the five minute call.
I read these once a week and there is not always room. Please keep clinical detail out of the form — it is not a confidential channel, and it is what the call is for.
Recovery is rarely the clean, forgiving thing people are told to aim for. It often looks more guarded, more cynical, more careful — and that is usually a sign of repair rather than damage.
You are probably further along than you think if you ruminate less than you did, if their name no longer moves anything in your chest, and if you have stopped narrating your life in the hope that they are watching.
I am not an emergency service and I cannot respond quickly, so please use one of these instead. They are free, and most run around the clock.
